Learn the history and traditions of the "Mountain People" of East Tennessee & the impact of the TVA upon the area. See the statue of Dolly Parton at the Sevier County Court House, and hear some of her childhood stories and experiences as well as her influential contributions to the Sevier County area. Visit Dandridge, one of the oldest towns in the state and also known as the Moonshine Capital of the World that inspired the movie “Thunder Road” (1958). Hear some of the infamous stories of “moonshine” and see some of the country where “white lightning” was brewed.)

  • LITTLE RIVER TOUR (This scenic drive follows the “Little” River on the way to Townsend-the peaceful side of the Smokies. Hear stories of the mountain people & lumbermen & CCC’s and railroad companies that forged a living along the Little River. Prior to 1900, this area of the Little River Valley and the surrounding tributary streams was called Tuckaleechee Cove- a name meaning “peaceful valley”, with farming being the livelihood of most families. For about 40 years there was a lot of commercial lumbering ended by the establishment of the National Park.

BRANSON - VET'S WEEK
November 10-13, 2010

One Bus will pick up at normal points in Winterset, Greenfield, Creston, & possibly Mt. Ayr and/or Osceola

Another Bus will pick up at 3 locations in Des Moines, Norwalk and Indianola.

Final locations and times for pick ups will be determined 3 weeks prior to trip when the final itineraries, luggage tags, etc. are mailed out. Both buses will stay in the same hotel "Branson Towers" and have the same schedule of shows and restaurants.

Schedule of Included events: 3 Breakfast/3 Dinners, 7 shows or attractions

Wed. Nov. 10th

Buses will make their pick ups.
Restroom stops approximately every 2 hours
Lunch will be on your own today.
Should arrive in Branson mid to late afternoon.
Check into our hotel "Branson Towers" ( a very nice hotel)

Thurs. Nov. 11th

10:00 AM We do have an optional show for those that do not wish to see the Parade - "Rickey Boen & The Texas Mud" at the Hamner Barber Theater. They are known for Texas Swing music. Optional show will be an extra $16.00 to be paid at sign up as we need to let the theater know how many seats we need. Please include this in with your final payment, but tell us at sign up if you are doing this.

2:00 PM "Six" at Hughes Bros. Theater (six brothers take musical entertainment to a whole new level using only their voices. You won't believe what comes out of their mouths....percussion, instruments, & harmonies. You'll swear you hear a full band.)
